African Countries by GDP 2022
Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa, followed by Egypt and South Africa. These three together account for almost 50% of the African economy. GDP of 3rd rank South Africa is more than double of 4th ranked Algeria. São Tomé and Príncipe is the smallest economy in Africa.
None of the African economies would have GDP above $600 billion, and Eight would have an economy of above $100 billion. In 2022, Egypt will overtake South Africa to become the 2nd largest economy in Africa. None of the African economies are in the list of the top twenty largest economies in the world, and only three economies are within the top 50 world GDP ranking.
